The project aims to develop a technology that enables the user to use the plastic and glass residue of an electronic was
tedispos al process in concrete based products to the building industry. By adding glass and plastic additives , we intend to improve the quality of concrete products and reuse parts of the was te dropped at the dumpsite.
On the others ide the goal of the project is to establish a was te recycling infras tructure to reuse the glass and plastics crap of the electronic was te disposa l works at Tarnabod. The project is conducted in partners hip with the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service “Reception” Non-profit Ltd. At the moment the reuse of the glass was te is unresolved, and the plastic residue can only be soldata very low price. Internationally there a reacouple of solutions a bout using glass and plastic residue in the production of concrete based product. The novelty of our project is the joint us a geof the two ma terials .
The project contributes to the environmental goa ls of the European Union and Hungary and creates new jobs as well. During the newly developed process , by using the secondary raw ma terials retrieved from the breaking up of e-waste, we will be able to participate in the employment of people with reduced work capacities and socially underprivileged employees .
During the planning phase of the project there were two aspects of critical importance: developing the most environment friendly technology to deliver the highest additional value possible; applying the loca l possibilities of reuse and minimize the freight cost. The long-terms ustainability of the project is ensured by an EU directive that came into effect on 13 august 2012. According to the directive: 45 percent of the electronic goods’s old after 2016 must be collected; 65 percent of the electronic goods’s old after 2019 must be collected (and 85 percent of all e-waste must be collected).
